Math dividing fractions mini-assignment today was handed in at the end of the day. Please be working towards ramping up for your unit exam on Thursday. There are practice tests/chapter reviews in our textbook for you to work through.
Here is a copy of the 4 level response that we discussed today:
Egg sink or float.
4 level response for floating or sinking egg
solution 1 - - tap water - - Density aprox - 1g/ml
solution 2 - - high concentration sugar solution - - density aprox - 1.12g/ml
The first egg sinks to the bottom of the solution. This is because a raw egg has a greater density than regular tap water. Essentially, the egg has more matter stuffed into a specific area (volume) than the same amount of water. Gravity pulls the egg down; the buoyant force of the solution is not large enough to float the egg. When the egg is placed in the second solution, the egg floats. The density of the second solution is greater than the egg, allowing the egg to float. The second solution creates a larger buoyant force than gravity is pulling down, so there is greater force pushing the egg up. Based upon my observations I estimate the density of the egg to be 1.09g/ml.
